Just One More Mile ...

A Cheer From Across The Pond!

October 12, 2009

At this stage in my Marathon training and fundraising, I certainly don’t feel I’m getting very far or attracting much attention.

Imagine my surprise, delight and sheer wonderment to receive a superb cheer of support from the incredible Josh Cox, US 50k record holder!  Josh is a hero of mine – you only have to read the list of his achievements to realise why:

  • Ultra-Marathon 50k American Record Holder
  • Won 2009 P.F. Chang’s Rock ’N’ Roll Arizona 50k
  • Won and set course record at the 1997 Mountain Masochist 50 Mile Trail Run

And these are just three of an extensive list of accomplishments.  I’m worried about running 26.2 miles, this guy can run 50 miles and complete some of the toughest ultra-marathons…and still looks good at the finish line!

“Hi Joanna, Awesome! You’ll do great! Two of my buddies have competed in London and they say the course is amazing (aka – flat)! It’s all in the preparation, just get out the door when you need to and schedule a tune up race a month – 6 weeks out,
like
a half marathon or 20k to gauge your fitness.
Let me know if you have any questions.
All the best!” Josh Cox

Great to have such super support at this stage and it definitely put a spring in my step!

“The smallest deed is better than the greatest intention, one step is greater than a thousand contemplated.” … great words from an all round nice-guy and super athelete ..Josh, you’re an inspiration!
