Runs have been going really well lately. I had a fantastic run up to Barnsdale again (that hill doesn’t get any less steep!) and continued on across towards Exton, Cottesmore and returned home via part of Ashwell. Beautiful weather and stunning scenery! Feeling rather pleased with myself and happily coping with 10miles+
So with continued enthusiasm, and after sufficient rest days, a mid-week run called. The moment I set off, I knew something was up. That familiar sharp pain in my thigh with every heel strike had returned but oddly in the opposite leg. Hmmm… it didn’t feel bad enough to stop..so I carried on for about 4 miles. Then it got worse… and worse. Ok so I’ve dealt with this before .. Remember the Physio’s advice.. More glute exercises and must strap my pelvis with a very unfashionable velcro belt

As it wasn’t getting any better, I decided to admit defeat and return to the Physio. I can’t tell you how concerned I was. I really thought that this was the end of my Marathon journey, that this post would be my last and I was dreading telling everyone that whilst the spirit was willing, the flesh was weak. I was sure it was the same old problem coming back to haunt me.
So here’s the good news: it isn’t the same problem as before!
It’s a tiny ligament near my coccyx that is strained and causing referred pain in my hip and thigh. Painful, yes..but repairable and no reason to quit the Marathon.
So, having been wired to the national grid again this morning I’m booked in for some treadmill sessions next week and hopefully all should be well again very soon.
See, I really am working very hard and telling you everything .. surely the embarrassment factor of having my bottom discussed can convince you to sponsor me??!
Please sponsor me & my bottom!
