Just One More Mile ...

Ok, so it’s Winter!

November 30, 2009

Having done a treadmill session at the Physio to round off last week, this week’s training started with a short 4 miler.  No-one likes Mondays, well no-one I know, and having dropped two very reluctant children off at school it was time to head out and stretch those limbs.  One slight hitch… it was freezing!  The wind was up and the temperature was down – it was hovering just below 4*C/37*F and, oh my, it felt a lot colder!!

I’m still running in fairly light kit – shorts and a long sleeved RonHill top – and to start with, the wind just seemed to go right through me.  It really took my breath away at one point.  However, I found a good pace and quickly felt comfortable.

The oakham signal boxlay-off with the ligament injury hadn’t dented my cardio fitness which was a relief, particularly as I had to sprint over the railway crossing as the barriers were coming down.  I always forget the train timetable and there’s nothing worse than getting stopped at the barriers – I never hang around to wait and always sprint up the steep steps of the pedestrian bridge to carry on my route … as if my legs weren’t screaming at me enough by then!

Anyone know why Oakham railway signal box is famous? .. leave a message if you know the answer.

Overall a good run but I’m a little concerned that the ligament injury is playing up again this evening.  Perhaps a good nights rest is needed.  More cold weather on its way …brrrr.
