I thought I’d celebrate the New Year by entering a road race to keep me motivated, training on track for the London Marathon and to give me some clue as to what happens when running in a large organised event.
So here’s my choice:
I’m entered for the world’s first Kilomathon!
The England Kilomathon runs from Nottingham to Derby on 14th March 2010
The Kilomathon (pronounced Kil-om-athon
) is a 26.2 Kilometre Road Race (16.3 miles) that has been developed by GSi events, the same company that organise the Edinburgh Marathon, one of the fastest growing marathons in Europe. The series was launched by double Olympian Liz Yelling who said “this innovative event will be a new target distance for lots of runners, from experienced, looking to develop their performance, or runners looking for a different challenge“.
- The Kilomathon is the perfect distance for anyone training for a marathon.
- The Kilomathon is the perfect distance for anyone that has run a half marathon and looking for a stepping stone to the marathon distance.
- The Kilomathon is the perfect race for anyone looking for a new running challenge.
- The Kilomathon is the perfect distance for anyone that has hit the wall at 18-20 miles but is still looking for a long distance challenge.
The world’s first Kilomathon takes place in England on Sunday 14th March (six weeks before I run the London Marathon) running from Nottingham to Derby and takes in the picturesque Elvaston Castle Country Park.
I had forgotten that, here in the UK, we celebrate Mothers Day on March 14th -
so this one’s for you Mum! x
