We’ve had snow on the ground for almost three weeks now; right through Christmas and into the New Year. As the UK salt and grit supplies have dwindled to not-a-lot-left levels, I would be mad to contemplate trying to run on very icy footpaths caused by the compacted snow.
I have to admit that I don’t have any winter running leggings and the idea of running in shorts doesn’t fill me with enthusiasm. The last time I ran out on the roads in shorts was just at the beginning of the snowy weather and boy did I get cold – it was a dreadful run, -4C, very windy and enough ‘way-hay-hay’ slippery bits to make the whole thing just horrible.
So, whilst the snow has kept falling, I’ve kept busy continuing my core, glutes and hamstring strengtheners. Until last week, when a very nice chap called Les, from Hire Fitness, delivered a superbly professional treadmill that I’ve decided to rent till the weather improves. This will hopefully get me back on track and allows for the added benefit of being able to train morning, noon, and night!
So, here it is .. the new treadmill .. and a big thank you to Les at Hire Fitness for helping to support my marathon training!
