Meet the Experts

Just a quick note to say that I’m off to the smoke on Saturday.  Bit of an early start to catch a train from Peterborough down to Kings Cross.  I’m attending the Virgin London Marathon’s ‘Meet The Experts’ in Central London.  I’ve heard it’s a really informative and useful meeting for all marathon runners – especially those running their first marathon…that’ll be me then!

I’m hoping to hear a variety of expert speakers who will discuss topics such as training, injuries, diet, clothing and footwear as well as giving top tips for running a successful Virgin London Marathon.

I’m particularly looking forward to hearing:

• Elite marathon runner Liz Yelling
• Andy Dixon, editor of Runners World, who will talk about the Pacer groups
• Race Director, David Bedford, who has news about all the great runners and famous faces joining us at the start line

Macmillan are holding a special reception for all their runners (me again!) and have got Mark Williamson joining them.  Mark has run over 30 marathons and this year will be his 13th London Marathon.  I’m hoping to hear what sort of advice Mark has to give – especially his top tips for sponsorship.  Mark is on track to raising a phenomenal £1million for Macmillan!

I’m also keen to pick up a few souvenirs .. I’m known as the Freebie-Queen at home, so I’ll let you know what I manage to snaffle!  Who knows, if I get something really super, perhaps I’ll run a competition for you guys.. what do you think?

Now … only one question remains… what shall I wear?!
