Just One More Mile ...

Ok, so you knew .. I suppose, if I’m honest, I knew .. but making the decision to pull out of the Virgin London Marathon 2011 was not an easy one. However, unfortunately that’s exactly what I’ve had to do.

A visit to my Consultant has confirmed the need for a further MRI of my spine before work begins to untwist my pelvis. It’s not going to be easy, quick or without a great deal of hard work.

So, I thought that whilst I won’t be running the London Marathon this year, I do know plenty of people who are and I’ll be writing some more about them in a little while.

If you’re running and fundraising for the Virgin London Marathon this year it would be great to hear from you and give your charity a shout-out! So, don’t be shy  .. leave a comment and let me know what you’re up to so I can give you and your charity a plug.

Best wishes
Joanna

    Hi Joanna
Sorry to hear you’re not in the 2011 marathon, but when they sort you out I’m sure you’ll be back in the 2012 one instead! I’ve been lurking around the site for a while, but this is the first time I’ve had a chance to send you a message. Hope you feel better soon.

    Hi Karen,

Fabulous to hear from you! Really frustrated not to be running VLM 2011 – difficult getting used to being so sedentary. Hoping it’s just temporary and will be on to more adventurous stuff very soon. Macmillan have been absolutely wonderful and I applaud both Sue and Alice in London HQ who are organising Team Macmillan and offering tons of support to everyone. Haven’t heard from you for a while – drop me an email when you have a mo and let me know how things are.

    Love
    Joanna :)

    Hi Joanna,

I know you’re sidelined at the moment but I wanted to thank you for the advice you gave me recently. I’d had a niggle at the very top of my hamstring and couldn’t work it through.
Your suggestion to focus on glute stretches has really helped and on my long run on Sunday I can honestly say that for the first time in months I was totally unaware of any discomfort (from this spot, the rest of me was screaming :) ).

Anyway, thanks again for your help and advice and I wish you well with your recovery.

    Andrew
